Just as Oldham County is diverse in its history and enjoys its laid back lifestyle, it is also diverse in its festivals! Whether you are looking for a nice Saturday stroll on Main Street LaGrange soaking up the local culture in Arts on the Green or the Farmer's Market or you are interested in the local craftsmanship of our arts and crafts festivals, Oldham County has what you crave.

Thanks to the national recognition of our Bluegrass Independent Film Festival and the Louisville Ironman competition, Oldham County has established itself around the state as the place be for good old fashioned southern hospitality.

Annual Bluegrass Independent
Film Festival

The Bluegrass Independent Film Festival is proud to continue with its history of being the best film festival in this region with hospitality not shown anywhere else as attested to by the many filmmakers who attended BIFF 2005 through 2007. It pays homage to D. W. Griffith's innovative film making techniques he developed with his first feature film, released just over 90 years ago. His birthplace is located here in Oldham County in the city of LaGrange, KY.

Ironman

Looking for the ideal spot to cheer on the cyclists? If so, the LaGrange Ironman Festival is just for you! Historic LaGrange offers several blocks of shaded viewing with a variety of local restaurants, unique shops and fun attractions. Watch the cyclists pass through town twice (miles 38 and 68) as they conquer the LaGrange Loop. Presented by Discover Downtown LaGrange, the festival includes IronmanLIVE internet stations, many children's activities such as face painting, sign making, a rock wall and a large inflatable bounce house.

Farmer's Market

The La Grange Farmers Market in Kentucky offers a variety of locally produced products. Besides fresh fruits and vegetables there is a vendor who works with wood grown on his property, the "Pepper Man" with his hot pepper relishes and the "Coffee Man" with fresh roasted coffee; roasted on the spot. There are also several booths that offer tempting baked goods. The market is located in downtown historic La Grange with plenty of parking, restaurants and shops. Several art galleries line the main street which is also home to the Oldham County Art Association's Gallery 104. Visit the website for more information!
Every Saturday and Wednesday June - September

Arts on the Green

The Oldham County Arts Association organizes the festival that was created in 2001 to showcase fine arts and crafts in the county. It drew only about 15 artists that first year, but now, with the help of word-of-mouth and print advertising, dozens of artists have signed on, some from as far away as California. The show is now juried — artists are chosen to participate based on photographs and slides of their work. They will sell items such as paintings, pottery, glasswork, jewelry and furniture.
